This website is about the genealogy and history of the Lippard family in North America.

There are at least three distinct lineages that may connect at some point in the past that hasn't been discovered. The largest one is Lippards of German descent who are descendants of Conrad Martin Lippard (1679-May 1754), who immigrated to the New World with his son William (1699-1784) and grandson Johannes (1734-1804), sailing on the SS Queen Elizabeth sailing from Rotterdam, Holland via Deal, England, and arriving in Philadelphia on September 16th, 1738. This branch of Lippards is most prevalent in North Carolina but also has groups in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Tennessee.

A second group is Lippards of English descent who are descendants of George Lippard (1839-October 1884), whose children were born in England but immigrated to the United States, specifically to Marlboro, Massachusetts, after the U.S. Civil War. This branch is most prevalent in Massachusetts but also has some clusters in Michigan.

The third group is Lippard's of Russian descent, descendants of Abraham Lippard (17 October 1870-14 December 1957) who immigrated to the United States via Hamburg, Germany in 1889 and settled in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. This smaller group is most prevalent in Pittsburgh.

For some notable members of each of these groups, see the "Famous Lippards" page linked below.
